At the International Academy of Trading, we accept that there is no such thing as one solution for all traders. The Master Traders Program uses a hands-on practical approach to give the traders the skills and confidence to become a successful trader. The main different technical trading methodologies that traders can comfortably use in less than an hour of trading are covered comprehensively. In the Master Traders Program, we look at 4 different trading methodologies. Each methodology will be reviewed over the course of one trading week – from Monday to Thursday, in short classes, on a live trading platform. You will also receive a brief daily Newsletter which will outline the markets we will be looking at in advance of each class taking place. You will be able to follow our lead as each class takes place and then review the performance at the end of each week.
Regardless of the trading style, there is always a high emphasis placed on risk management. Without a complete understanding and acceptance of risk management, there is no strategy in the world which will lead to success. The only guarantee when trading without a stop loss, is failure. In all instances, self-preservation is key. In some instances, the best trade to place is no trade at all. Our students are taught that you never have to modify an existing trade or place an order. All too often traders believe that they need to justify the time spent in front of a trading screen by forcing a trade when none exists. We aim to change that mindset from a fundamental perspective.
What is far more important is maintaining strict rules of entry, exit, scaling in and scaling out of trades in order to maximise our profitability on every trade that is made to give each trader the best possible opportunity to profit.
Master Traders Program
Week 1 – Complete Technical Trading
We look at the most important indicators used by traders and how to apply them to your markets. They provide very objective entry and exit points to traders, which can lead to an increase in confidence and a decrease in second-guessing and self-doubt. Throughout we discuss how to avoid market volatility wiping you out of your trade plus how to practically apply our risk management principles. We get straight into choosing instruments to trade with areas of entry and exit. No fluff, just empirically tested techniques in a live market environment.
Week 2 – Institutional Trading
As the name suggests, in Week 2 we review exactly how the larger financial entities approach the markets. We approach the markets from a very technical perspective and highlight where the institutions are buying and selling. By refining this skill, we are able to identify areas of interest and then attempt to mirror their trades. This strategy, like all others, must be aligned with an unwavering approach to risk management.
Week 3 – Turtle Trading
Turtle-trading is a mechanical trend-following trading system based on the movement of the price of the market. It is not asset specific, meaning that it can be applied to any market you might have an interest in. It combines a short-term, more aggressive trading strategy with a more longer-term strategy – in theory providing options for all, regardless of your goals. Again we apply this in the live market, entering and exiting with appropriate trade sizes in comparison to our overall capital and market volatility.
Week 4 – Trend Trading
For the longer-term trader – we use daily, weekly and even monthly charts to identify the clear and present trends within specific markets. By aligning this identification to a small position size / distant stop loss approach, this methodology ensures that you the time you need to dedicate to the markets remains minimal, with revision only being required on a weekly or even bi-weekly basis. Less of the highs and lows typically associated with trading but a long-term sensible approach that has statistically provided long term returns.
